Insulin pens are available which have a very fine needle making the whole process nearly painless. Also rotate the sites of injection to have less pain.

If you are on Insulin, why do not you increase its dose.
Should avoid sweets, sugar,jahgery, honey,sweet fruits like banana, mangoes,grapes, cheekoo etc. Take small frequent meals instead of large ones.
Regular exercise is must.

There are many types of insulinis. Most of them are available in pen. If you are type 1, you would benefit from buying a permanent insulin pen. You would only have to change the cartridges when the insulin gets over inside. Most companies have helplines in place to assist taking of the injections.
