Use a 100U/ml syringe (orange cap) for the 100u/ml vial or use a 40U/ml syringe (red cap) for 40u/ml vial. As long as u dont mix them up, you will do just fine. All pen cartridges come as 100u/ml concentration only. Never mix up the syringes or pen cartridges

Yes, as lantus has long action, so nothing to do either you take before or after meal. But don't skip your meal ever and follow meal chart. Good day.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. There is no mention of current fasting, PP glucose levels and HbA1c%. Therefore, no idea about the control at present. You can look at protein powders that give 60 to 80 % proteins and NO SUGAR in them. There are quite a few. Thanks.

insulin pens do not regular refrigeration. Only initially refrigeration is needed. Later these can kept at room temperature away from direct sunlight. So there will be no problem when you caryy around while travelling.

Hello, It is difficult give the dosage based on the information given. If you are on Glargine 40 units at night, then oral antidiabetes drugs plus another combination like Wosulin 30/70 (it is 30 /70 not 30/50), it is a bit odd. Because you are already on a long acting compound. So ideally there should be a short acting one to check post breakfast and post lunch surge. Another aspect the mentioned glucose levels are not too high, therefore Glargine and oral drugs should be enough to give a bette...more

Mr. lybrate-user, There is brand by name "Mixtard 30/70 InnoLet 3 ml injection. Usually concerned company persons do visit and explain how to use the Insulin Pens. So while buying it from the local chemist ask him to send the particular company representative to demonstrate the usage. The cartridges are 3 ml while vial is bigger. So please get all the details before switching over. Pens are definitely much easier to use. Thanks.

every insulin has it's time of action. for example human mustard 30/70 has 12 hrs of action or actrapid has 6-8hrs , novorapid 4 hrs humalog 4 hrs humalog mix25/75 has 12hrs lantus (glargine) has 24 hrs etc..
after it is finished then sugars will start rising again and need another shot.
