In t2 dm there is insulin resistance but there are no antibodies against it. Insulin resistance can be reduced by maintaining near normal body weight and a bmi of 23kg/m2. Exercising for more than 1 h a day is a good method of improving insulin resistance. Drugs like metformin and pioglitazone also help in reducing the resistance.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if you have t1 dm, then only treatment is insulin injection, no other option. If you have t2 dm and still you have been given insulin that means your diabetes must have been really in bad control. Diabetes occurs either due to lack of insulin or resistance to its action (t2 dm), or due to total absence (t1dm). Best medicine for diabetes in fact is insulin, it has no real side effects, our own islets of langerhans in pancreas produce it.

It's very essential to have a blood sugar level that can be controlled by oral medicines. If you're taking insulin it means your sugar is not under control. Get hba1c levels checked and also fasting and post prandial blood sugars at regular intervals. If the range is coming at an acceptable level you can be put on oral medicines.

Dear Lybrate-user I understood you are having type 2 dm. Insulin will definitely relieve it along with exercise. Your hba1c should come below 7 for a good control. Homoeopathy offers good solution for dm by stimulating your pancreas to secrete insulin. This can be achieved by assessing your physical and mental make up (genetic makeup) which made you prone to dm. And a correct remedy which brings immunomodulation to cure your condition.
