Dear Manny,
Lamotrigine is NOT routinely used in the treatment of OCD. But if your doctor diagnosed your OCD as a symptom of mood disorder, he/she will prescribe lamotrigine. Talk to your doctor about it. In a bipolar mood disorder, OCD, Depression etc are common symptoms.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. As you are aware, depression is a neuro chemical disorder and therefore the treatment should be targeted towards enhancing or reducing those chemicals biologically. But these medicines are used for maintaining the balance. In that sense, with the present medicines, you will have to continue forever. I suggest online cognitive therapy. Take care.

Dear lybrate-user,
Are you taking both Celith and Epitic as mood stabilizers for bipolar disorder?
If so, please take both. Sometimes lithium carbonate helps well to control mania but not depression. Lamotrigine controls depression well.

Lamotrigine is usually titrated up gradually, but do not do it on your own. The psychiatrist will peridocally assess the benefits and risks and reach the optimal level, for some it may be 100, for some much higher. Good luck.
