Dear lybrate-user,
probably you have been having recurrent attacks of depression more frequently. That is why your doctor has put you on lamitor. Lamotrigine is a mood stabiliser which will reduce the severity and duration of next attack of depression. It may be increased to 200 mg if you don't get desired benefit. Your doctor might have gradually increased lamotrigine dose to prevent serious skin reaction as side effect. If you did not get skin problem in first 6 months or so, lamotrigine i...more

Dear Manny,
Lamotrigine is NOT routinely used in the treatment of OCD. But if your doctor diagnosed your OCD as a symptom of mood disorder, he/she will prescribe lamotrigine. Talk to your doctor about it. In a bipolar mood disorder, OCD, Depression etc are common symptoms.

Dear lybrate-user. Thanks for the question. Lamez 100 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of seizures and mania. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Lamez 100 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. Talk to your psychiatrist for more. Take care.

Dear lybrate-user,
Lamitor Is usually given as a mood stabilizer for a long term use. It can not be stopped even after you feel okay. It prevents future episodes of depression. Probably you may need some antidepressant at present along with lamitor. Discuss with your psychiatrist without stopping lamitor.

If you have leg pain then you have to rule out the causes for having leg pain. First of all check your weight and your haemoglobin levels, as anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there are no issues with the knee joint or back pain. If not if the pain radiates down the back of thigh and legs then it might be due to sciatica. Kindly consult the nearby physiotherapist. Hope you recover soon from the leg pain.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. As you are aware, depression is a neuro chemical disorder and therefore the treatment should be targeted towards enhancing or reducing those chemicals biologically. But these medicines are used for maintaining the balance. In that sense, with the present medicines, you will have to continue forever. I suggest online cognitive therapy. Take care.
