She is suffering from dysmenorrhoea which is very common. It should be treated initially with meftal spas (pain killer) tablets. There is no other option than taking these tablets. No exercises or diet or food will relieve her from pain except meftal spas or equivalent. If the pain is too severe it should be further investigated with ultrasound, to find out the exact cause. She could be suffering from endometriosis or ovarian cyst or fibroid.

If this has happened for the first time, then there is no need to worry and no need for any medicines also. Sometimes because of hormonal changes or stress or weight gain such things happen. If this is recurring again and again then you should get ultrasound with hormonal tests like fsh, lh, tsh and prolactin and then 3 months course of medicines will help you get beck to normal menstrual flow.

Pain during menstruation is called as dysmenorrhoea. If you r suffering from this since long time and if it is not controlled by meftal spas and if you have to stay at home during menses because of pain, then you should get sonography done to find out the cause. It could be ovarian cyst or endometriosis or fibroid also.
