Hi Lybrate-user
There is no serious aide effect of taking AKT4 longer. AKT4 when compared to AKT4 has 1 extra MEDICINE. It is called pyrazinamide. This medicine can cause hepatitis in some cases and not all (liver injury but it is temporary and can be treated). Another minor problem is gout related joint pain. None of them are serious and can easily be treated.

Your hair fall is due to the tuberculosis treatment. You must take supportive ayurvedic supplement to avoid it's side effects. Avoid salty, spicy and Chinese, fast foods. Take carrot, awala, beetroot and tomato juice daily. Consult personally for counseling, medicine and treatments.

Dear,
If you have been diagnosed for the first time of TB then streptomycin is not needed. It is combination of four drugs to be taken for first two months followed by 2 drugs for another 4 months.
If it the disease relapses then streptomycin has to be taken for first 2 months and entire regimen for 8 months.
If You Are Taking only Streptomycin then It Is not the appropriate treatment. ..

Plz tell the name of all drugs you are taking. ...

Treatment of PTB is usauly by 4 drugs and dose is calculated on weight basis. As you are diabetic, your intensive phage should have been for 3 months and not for 1 month and also maintenance phage of ATT should be of 6 month,so total of 9 month treatment has to be taken. You should have periodic xray chest, sputum AFB and liver function test done.Your diabetic should be under control ,otherwise all treatment will be waste.
