Dear Lybrate User, Psychiatric medicines take some time to have effect as it is aimed to create a balance in brain chemicals. The medicines works well when a threshold level is achieved in blood. So if after a month you feel it's not working then you shd see your Psychiatrist once again for regulation of dosage or salt. Hope this helps. Divine Blessings!

Oleanz is an antipsychotic with anti depressant properties. It is used for treating hallucinations, if on stopping hallucinations occur, it is due to the relapse of underlying disorder and not due to Oleanz

Psychiatric medicines take longer duration to show the desired effect. They may take from 15 days to 2-3 months to get the right concentration in the blood. Kindly do not stop or alter medication yourself without asking your psychiatrist.

Dear Mam Thank you for your query.
Many patients who are prescribed oleanz complain of sleepiness. However, for most of them this side effect goes away with continued use. Please do not stop the medication without consulting your psychiatrist. If the problem persists, discuss with your psychiatrist regarding other options which are less sedating. Thanks Regards Dr. Ankita Mishra.

Dear Avijata,
Ativan and lonazep belong to a group of anxiolytics called as benzodiazepines. Both can not act as an antidepressant. Both can reduce the anxiety part of depression giving you some relief.
Oleanz 10 mg is a major tranquilizer given for psychotic conditions.

The medicine works on your anxiety, thereby reducing it. Once the anxiety is reduced, you do not feel the need to do compulsions as often. Obsessions (thoughts) take time to go away. The medicines can be taken along with psychotherapy sessions which work directly on your compulsions (repetitive behaviors) and obsessions (thoughts). Psychotherapy is very effective in ocd and when done along with medicine, promising early results can be seen.
