As per standard protocols, there needs to at least 5 years of seizure free period before tapering and stopping medications. Newer protocols followed by some doctors believe in stopping medications even if there is 1 year of seizure free interval. It is best that you consult with your neurologist and let him decide on what is best for you.

Sometimes people who are under weight gluformin (metformin) is not good choice if sugars are not under control or hba1c is persistently high.
You should try and strictly follow diabetic diet (without direct sugar on day to day basis, oil restricted to 3 tsp daily- high fiber inform of vegetables fruits and sprouts) and regular minimum 45minutes exercise/walking/sports activity.

Yes. You still need to take medicines because your blood sugar is controlled with medicines, diet control and good life style. Get your blood sugar check regularly and if still blood sugar falls then your doctor will reduce medicines gradually.

No, you don't need to do anything else.
1. Just have calorie restricted balanced diet. Especially have salad in each meal and one seasonal fruit everyday.
2. Do aerobic exercise, ideally 150 mins per week.
