Mr. lybrate-user, Looking at your age, height and weight, your ideal body weight (IBW) should be 177.5 - 100 = 77.5 X 0.9 = 69.75 kgs. Hence I do not see any reason why one should be worried about the weight loss. Your current BMI is 23.17 kgs / M2, which absolutely normal. When a person is on pioglitazone then there is a tendency to add weight, due to that drug's side effect. Vildagliptin is a weight neutral drug and metformin can help in weight reduction if one is over weight.

Hello, there are more economical substitutes available and equally effective and safe. But to suggest any drug, I need to know present fasting, pp sugar levels, hba1c%, diet details and daily extent exercise.

Hello it appears the insulin dose is not enough. Plus you have to check hba1c and lipid profile as well as creatinine. Then increase insulin dosage every 2 days by 2 units. Simultaneously observe sugar levels regularly. This will also help you to have better control. Also exercise regularly 1 hr a day.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
It is not possible to give an answer to the query. Because glucose level reduction depends on dietary intake and also dose of the drug. Plus there is no clear mention whether the glucose level was fasting one or after food or after how many hours of taking the drug. Thanks;

Yes it can be taken. But first get yourself evaluated for the reason for your hand pain. 6 months is a long period and a patient especially diabetic should not ignore such symptoms.

No. The medicines prescribed to you will not cause the sugar to go below normal levels. They work in a way that the sugar level will drop to normal levels and not below that irrespective of the dose. The dose given to you is perfect.

You have not mentioned your pp blood sugar and hba1c level to suggest you properly. Any way you need to increase your medicines if you are on strict diet control and doing regular exercise.
