Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
The medications used to treat diabetes and neuropathy, (which you are taking) are quite safe. These need to be taken for a very long time like 25 to 30 plus years by most patients who are treatment. There hardly any reports of side effects or problems being created in kidney or other vital organs. In fact if diabetes or high blood glucose is not well controlled that can cause severe kidney damage not the drugs. Thanks.

Thanks for the query.
You have provided incomplete information. Provide details like fbs, ppbs, hba1c etc.
Secondly there are many factors like site and method of insulin injection, his dietary habits.
Thirdly as per his age our goal should be to maintain fbs in the range of 100-130 and ppbs 180-190.
So we need to change /modify the regimen a bit.
For further information, advise and prescription you can book an online consultation with me on Lybrate with the details I have as...more

lybrate-user, You have a BMI of 33.06 kgs/M2, suggesting grade 1 obesity. This itself can be a main cause for increased lipids. High uric acid also needs to be corrected to help reduce ankle pain. Further, if hypothyroidism is not in control (TSH between 3 to 4 mU/L), then efforts to reduce weight do not succeed. Your HbA1c% shows a good blood glucose control. But if you reduce weight dyslipidemia and diabetes control will be much better and even joint pain will be reduced.

You have a significant diabetes and need to take these tablets and check again after one month and increase or decrease the dose .Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. You are diabetic since 8 years and you are only on metformin total 1500 mg per day. It's time to increase medication. I advice you should do hba1c test to look for your last three months average. And increase 500 mg metformin post dinner and add 50 mg sitagliptin (januvia/zita) bbf so that will take care of post prandial high sugars.
