1st you need to understand hypertension.
Blood pressure keeps fluctuating in everyone depending upon our physical & psychological stress levels.(bp sabh mein upar neeche hote rehta hai. Stress mein jyada aur rest mein kam hota hai ).
Normal range of blood pressure is between 90/60 to 140/90 & blood pressure keeps fluctuating in every one. In stress it rises & while resting it decreases. If it is constantly higher then 130/80 & does not decrease by resting it's then called hypertension.more

I have gone through the details given. With HbA1c% of 7.7, your diabetes is not very well controlled. Ideally considering your age, HbA1c% should be < 6.8. Plus looking at your height & weight, the BMI is 27.156 kgs/M2 (normal <23 kgs), which shows that you are overweight. This also contributes in not achieving desired control of blood glucose. As per standard protocols, there needs to at least 5 years of seizure free period before tapering and stopping medications. Newer protocols followed by some doctors believe in stopping medications even if there is 1 year of seizure free interval. It is best that you consult with your neurologist and let him decide on what is best for you.

Yes it is safe to use these medicines in diabetic. But what is reason for swelling. If not investigated then get her tests done. With these medicines and in elderly keep checking her electrolytes periodically.
