Probably you are taking 80 units of insulin/day. Yes I can start you on cheaper insulin and it may control your sugars better with proper diet and excersize. However I may need your past history and treatment records.

Mr. Lybrate-user, both the brands contain one part as fast acting insulin and the other part as a loger acting insulin. You can replace one for another, but slight dose adjust mey be needed.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Both Insulins mentioned are same. Only difference is one has 40 units per ml in the vial. The other has 100 units per ml in the pen. So if you are taking 6 units with 40 u/ml one, then 6 units need to be taken with the pen. You will have to fix the dosage on the pen, it will deliver that quantity only. Thanks.

I am type 2 diabetic patient since 28 years with high bp and coronary heart disease (standing in 2008 and 2014). For dm taking novomix penfill 30/70 insulin three times and tablets (glister 4, morning and evening, tenpla in afternoon and ramo-100 morning and evening). Cost of novomix penfill is very high and increasing every 6 months. My family physician advised alternate insulin i.e. Wosulin 30/70 manufactured by wockhardt locally. The content of both is same except novomix is synthetic and wosulin is human. With novomix penfill and tablets my sugar levels are average 130 fasting and post lunch 175. By switching over to wosulin (cost benefit which is one third of novomix) is there any side effect? Will my sugar level will controlled? Will there weight gain. Attaching medical history. Taking novomix since last six years.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. In fact you are too many drugs to treat diabetes. Since you are on 30/70 insulin (any one is similar) you can actually achieve better control by monitoring the insulin dosage and fasting and pp glucose levels. Taking so many oral anti-diabetes drugs may not be needed.
As regards your question both the brands work in the same manner. Both contain human insulin only but compounds are different. So there is no need to worry...more

Hi, in t1 diabetes, unless blood sugar is properly monitored and insulin dosage is correctly adjusted, hypoglycemic episodes can occur. You may talk to your physician and see how effectively sugar levels are maintained. This is not a situation which can be addressed by online consultation. It needs a close monitoring between you and your physician. Also you may think of using insulins like glargine or degludec which are peakless.

You probably need to take insulin long-term to keep your sugars under control under the supervision of your doctor. In lean diabetics with very high blood sugars, insulin should be continued probably lifelong

The data extrapolated from this trial is revealing promising and positive results. The oral formulation of this insulin, currently named ormd-0801, is in capsule form. Oramed pharmaceuticals is the first pharmaceutical company to attempt oral insulin that has progressed this far in the trial.
But you should not take anything without doctor's advise as it may be harmful.
Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Bula Dutta ji, Thanks for the query.
I have read the details given. The fasting glucose & HbA1c% are quite high. Therefore, Insulin might have been advised. Plus already there are multiple oral drugs like Glimiperide, Metformin, Acarbose, Vildagliptin & Pioglitazone. WHich means the whole oral range is there. So to attain desired control no further oral drug can really be added. Another important aspect is there is a need to look at her daily dietary intake & extent of exercise to see if a...more
