Regarding online consultation there are certain points which all should know and follow. 1) the description of the diseases should be complete in all respects, including any tests done and any medicines already taking. Just saying I have diabetes since 10 years and taking metformin cannot help a discerning doctor a scientific advice.
2) your place and name and mail id and phone number should be in the question. It is necessary at times to know where you stay to give a good advice. (for examp...more

Is that pain associated with redness, diminution of vision or any other symptoms? if yes then it's of infective origin. Else if none of these present and you are using /not using glasses in either case get your refraction done. May be the number might have changed. If your vision is normal, you have to go for orthoptic checkups which may be the probable cause for asthenopic symptoms. Since you're diabetic you should also get dilated fundus examinations by a vitreoretinal expert.

Duotrol consists of 5 mg of gilbenclamide and 500 mg of metformin. If I had consulted a patient in person with such an issue, I would have done two things.
1. Check the hba1c
2. Increase the dose of metformin (added separately) to 1000 mg twice daily (the maximum dose of metformin is 2500 mg per day in divided doses).
Metformin is a very good insulin sensitiser and it overcomes insulin resistance. There no chances of hypoglycemia with metformin along and chances are high that one's i...more

Start with 14 units in morning and 10 units in evening 30 before meals, check your sugar yourself daily with gkucometer. Further dose can be adjusted according to blood sugar. If you feel dizzy or drowsy then this dose is too much for you. Decrease two units from this dose then.
