Hello, thanks for the query.
Some times with insulin occasionally hypoglycemia does occur. When glucose levels go below 70 mg then some patients show different kinds of behavior. So if you have to take care and see that glucose levels do not go too low. One way to that is use a long acting insulin like glargine or degludec which provide almost 24 hour action (degludec is almost 30 plus hours). Plus add a rapid acting insulin 1 or 2 doses before luch &/or dinner to reduce post food high gluco...more

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I am sure aware that in a well controlled diabetes patient FBG should be just about 100 mg or a bit more, PP should be 150 to 170 mg& HbA1c% closer to 6.5%. That means there is a need to achieve much stricter glucose control. Usually if fasting glucose goes above 140 mg, then you should increase night dosage of Insulin by 2 units and if post lunch level goes above 180 mg...more

Hello
Your A1c is 8.4 which suggest you have poorly controlled Diabetes despite taking Mixtard 50:50 in three dosage,
You have diabetes since 1990, and MIxtard 50: 50 thrice a day is not a correct dosage,
You need to change or shift to BAsal Bolus insulin for the better control blood sugars
Thanks

Hum log mix is analog and definitely better than mixtard which is human insulin. With analogue you won' t gain weight n there are very less chances of hypoglycemia moreover analogue can injected immediately before meals. What I suggest you is to make cetapin twice a day, weight for a month n the if not controlled increase the dose of insulin.

Mixtard has both long-acting and fast-acting insulin. So the fast-acting might cover your meal, but the long-acting will continue to drop blood sugar for 6+ hours. If you're taking both lantus and mixtard you are doubling up on your basal insulin. Lantus (insulin glargine) is effective, long-acting insulin that provides all-day blood sugar control, but it can cause low blood sugar levels, so be sure to have a source of sugar nearby.
