Sometimes medicines take time to work. All medicines need to be taken for the time they have been given. The regimen matters in psychiatric medication. Unlike other meds, we can not choose to reduce dosage or stop taking. That being said, finish the course and then go to psychiatrist to explain side effects. Sometimes side effects...more

If your psychiatrist is out of town you may be able to consult online, however there are many other ways in which your problem of attention deficits as well as difficulties with depression can be solved. I strongly advice you to consult your previous doctor since the dosages may need to be up-titrated more slowly and in the mea...more

Depends on what medicine you are taking. But generally there are no long term effects of adhd medicines. Atomoxetin can effect liver function tests but it is reversible on stopping the medicine. Methylphenidate is safe and has no long term effects.

Hello; first you have to stop giving him neurocetum or similar named syrup you are giving him. What is your son's weight & height? c. Atomoxetine (acepta) is a very good medication & we can increase its dose depending on your sons responses like studies, behavior in class etc. In addition, there are other good medications like methylphenidate, clonidine also which can be prescribed if required. Do revert back for further help. Good luck.

Hello lybrate-user
you have been started on concerta xl 18 mgs only recently. Your prescribing doctor will review response, monitor for any possible side effects and if appropriate will titrate up the dose gradually till there is effective control of your adhd symptoms. Most of them respond well to concerta (which is an extended release preparation of methylphenidate which is a stimulant medication). If for whatever reason concerta does not suit you, there is no harm in trying atomoxetine. M...more
