Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to suppress gastric acid production for a number of medical uses. Rabeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. Just use the medicine according to what is prescribed by your doctor to avoid long term side effects. Take care

For inflammation by h.pylori bacteria I was put on happi d (ppi) ,and sucrafil for 3 months and also had hp kit antibiotics for 14 days. Taking b12 injections for b12 deficiency due to h.pylori bacteria. Inflammation pain subsided a little but back pain and other issues started like sore throat and slightly difficulty in taking breathing kind of shallow breathing during night with mouth getting dry and throat kind of become tighter. I felt allergic to the happi d and stopped it and by other gastro doctor started taking sompraz 40 as substitute but within 2 days same issues came up and I had to stop. Took some lab test for kidney, liver and hb1ac, thyroid profile. I'm having hypothyroidism taking eltroxin 100 mcg. Lab results: serum kidney creatinine-0.72 serum urea - 13.89 tsh-1.52 liver test: total bilirubin-1.4 conjugated bilirubin-0.4 albumin-5.1 globulin-2.3 a/g-2.2 hba1c-5.2 after 2 days of lab results visited pulmonologist for mouth dryness and throat issues for breathless issue and took chest and pns xray and he saw sinus in cheeks and prescribed monticope-a and azeflo nasal spray for 14 days and advised steam inhalation twice daily. I purchased but didn't take the medication only took steam inhalation. After stopping taking ppi it slowly reduced the breathing issue and sore throat and I was good by 3rd week. But meanwhile swelling around eyes like under eyelids bulged observed after waking up in the morning but it used to go after some time and same time left feet fingers and little below area of it started having feeling like tingling blood pressure sensation sometimes it pained but felt better on walking or sleeping position. After 3 weeks eye swelling has decreased a little but left feet issue is still there it comes and goes. Now after taking monthly once b12 injection I started getting some joint pains. I'm not able to sleep on my left side as well and had to sleep on back only and continuously doing so back pain used to be more and sleep is disturbed. Sleeping on left for some time used to increase back pain more and at left side as well. Palms have become tender with anything holding tighter for long could see become pink. With impressions forming. At times for left hand holding any object and if it gets a bit pressed to fingers felt shock like feeling. I'm not sure what is going wrong with the body. Feel like bone density decreased as I read about happi d that it decreases bone. My feeling is that it's all side effects of the medicines I have taken. Please help in finding the root cause and hope this does any further damage. Please let me know what investigations to do. Will try to get all the investigations done freshly.

This medicine (proton pump inhibitor (ppi).) will not cure problem. It only works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. The day you do not take medicine normal acid production will be there n you will have symptoms.
Do this
1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overea...more

GERD is very controllable problem. I am amazed that you have been suffering with it and haven't received help from any corner. First of all, Rabprazole is for acidity and not for GERD. Infact for GERD - first we suggest three cardinal rules- 1. Do not take too much water with your food. 2. Don't overfill your stomach and try less food but at more frequency to meet your needs. Avoiding spicy and oily stuff as much as possible. 3. Most importantly, Never lie down immediately after taking anything ...more
