Modern medicine does not have any particular recommendation on this but you can do so if there are no contraindications such as diseases or medicines that increase potassium levels. It's not chlorides but fluorides which cause the problem get scaling polishing done by a dentist it will not help if discolouration is there for that get bleaching done.
