Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. The medicines as prescribed by your mother's doc is suggestive of pulmonary fibrosis, and the consequent lung damage. Although the lung damage thus far cannot be undone, I still can help your mother arrest or slowdown the disease progression by intervening and complimenting the present conventional therapy with appropriate natural medicines. To be able to proceed with her integrative treatment, I will require all relevant details including her diag...more

Hello.
You are rightly given ipt along with pyridoxine as per rntcp guidelines.
Pyridoxine (vit b6) is given to prevent one side effect of isoniazid. Ie peripheral neuropathy. It has no role in the development of drug resistance to inh. So please take pyridoxine regularly and you can take it at any time of the day if you have a problem to take with other meds. Thanks.

Folsafe l tablet is a combination of l-methylfolate with pyridoxine and methylcobalamin.
Folsafe plus capsule contains docosahexaenoic acid, folic acid, methylcobalamin and pyridoxine as active ingredients.
As you can see both are essentially similar.

My father aged 68, some 8 months back was diagnosed for Spine TB and he started on AKT4 for 2 months, AKT3 for the next month but had to stop due to vision loss and following 5 months was taking Rifampicin and Isoniazid. His vision is almost back with some eye power complaint. Recent blood report shows hemoglobin at 11.5. He has recently started to complaint about burning sensation while peeing and frequent urination. His Blood urea, BUN is high and so is creatinine = 1.77. I consulted general medicine doctor and put him on nefrolex for 5 days and then redo the KFT. However, after taking this medicine he was complaining of back pain, joint pain, fever, mouth rash, loose stool and high glucose reading. Its 9 days since he started neroflex and 4 days he has stopped, his is left with stomach pain and high glucose reading. Will the high blood glucose subside soon? He was at 99/153 before and is reporting 145/225 now. We have eliminated almost all carbs barring greens, salad and increased protein to prevent any ill effects. He is taking gliclazide for sugar control. FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows platelet count=130, ESR 70, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4, LFT results are normal, Remarks of Hemogram: RBCs: Mild anisopoikilocytosis. ATT is usually taken for 6 months. After 2 months, pyrazinamide is stopped and other medications should be continued.
In your case case, i suggest you to repeat a CXR to look for the response and amount of remaining fluid. Also continue rifampicin, isoniazid and ethambutol for atleast 3 more months. You can stop pyrazimamide.

I had diarrhea and gas problems yesterday most probably due to food poisoning. Situation yesterday: I started with digene in the morning. No relief. Then in the evening, I took 1 tablet of ranitidine 150 mg and 1 tablet of norflox-tz (norfloxacin 400 mg, tinidazole 600 mg, lactic acid bacillus 120 x 10^6 spores). Before sleeping I took 1 tablet of nutrolin-b plus (40 x 10^6 spores of lactic acid bacillus, pyridoxine hydrochloride 1 mg, nicotinamide 25 mg, cyanocobalamin 7.5 mcg, folic acid 750 mcg). Had a good night's sleep. Situation today: much better than yesterday. No gas. No diarrhea. But did not pass stool the whole day (opposite situation). I took 1 tablet each of norflox-tz and nutrolin-b plus after breakfast and dinner (total 4 tablets). Even lots of lemonade, water, and coffee did not help pass stool. How to cure this constipation? For the next 3 days I plan to: 1) have 1 tablet of ranitidine 150 mg every morning immediately after waking up. 2) 1 tablet each of norflox-tz and nutrolin-b plus after breakfast and dinner. But I am confused if I should replace each nutrolin-b tablet with the following two tablets: 1) darolac (which has multiple species of "good" microbes unlike nutrolin-b which has only lactic acid bacillus. This is to refill the gut with good microbes as the antibiotics have been doing mass destruction. 2) zincovit (multi-mineral and multi-vitamin) also, is it a good idea to have nutrolin-b plus / darolac with the antibiotic or after one hour of taking the antibiotic (or some other such delay in time)?
