Hi, I can understand your worries. please don't panic and stick to doctor's advice. Tell your husband to have high protein diet and less spicy and fat free diet. Do regular blood tests and other tests. Take information from Google but don't conclude them on your own. If you have any doubt clear them with the doctor.

No amount of alcohol is safe. Abstinence from alcohol and medicine for existing symptoms is must. Apart from this take a help from addiction therapist to understand abstinence based problems, craving management and also understand how to use anxiety management techniques.
