Usually Glimepiride is either given once a day or twice in some cases. Metformin can be given 3 times a day again depending upon the need. Usually both these are used together to control increased blood glucose. In newly diagnosed patients metformin alone is used. In some both drugs are used together. Which drug to take for a particular level can be decided by the treating doctor.
