I'm a software engineer age 26. I was diagnosed type 2 diabetes at the age of 24, one and half year to be exact. I was running with high blood sugar levels. I've been on medication for past 6 months obimet sr 500 (metformin hydrochloride sustained release 500 Mg) daily night after dinner. And recently I was advised that to go for fasting by my family doctor. So I skipped a noon lunch for more than 10 days. I felt great and light and even my blood sugar levels were down. But from past 15 days I was on travel due to business and I didn't follow diet. So back to square one. So is fasting advisable to me? He said to take very minimal food. As every food converts into glucose even food with low glycemic index. So he advised to take eggs and meat with fats so that it's not converted into glucose. So is that good diet?

Life style modification is very important -that means proper high protein, low fat ,low carbohydrate ,high fibre diet along with regular exercise .in diabetes management to maintain blood sugars between 100-140 mg % HBa1c less than 7%
Usually meat and fasting is not recommended for diabetic patients.

I am 30 year old and married, not pregnant, not have baby. I diagnosed with pcos/pcod around 10-12 years back. I was treated with contraceptive pills like krimson 35/ diane 35 at regular time intervals as and when required. Lately doctor prescribed me the medication obimet to lose some weight. With all this medication my weight was normal before. From last 8-9 months I have stopped medication and my periods gets normal automatically. It's been now 8-9 months still it is regular but I have gained my weight by 5 kgs, so now I am 66 kgs and my height is 5.5 ft along with that I am facing severe hair fall from top and sides. I can't understand what is the problem and why am I facing it. I have done my blood test and everything is normal except vitamin d3. It was low. I have taken medication for 3 months now. Is it because of hormones or anything else? Can I start contraceptive and metformin again?

If you still have pcos, hormonal imbalance can cause insulin resistance and androgen excess which can cause these symptoms in pcos patients. If you are not planning a pregnancy, you can restart ocp pills and metformin. Or you can consult your doctor for other non- hormonal options that are now available for pcos.

There could be several reasons of constipation. Vitamins generally have a mild laxative effect so that should not be the reason. I hope your thyroid profile has been done. If not please consult your treating doctor for the same. For constipation, take plenty of fluids, high fibre diet and hot milk at bedtime.

Metformin has been given for pcod. This condition may cause insulin resistance leading to high blood sugar. This drug helps to keep the insulin resistance normal thus helping in treatment of pcod. Letrozole has been given for ovulation.

Yes, there are alternatives to metformin. You need to talk to your doctor about intolerance to metformin and he or she can prescribe other medications.

Sir I have been diabetes patient since 2011. I am taking now gluconorm g2 for sugar and macsart 20 for hypertension. Besides I am taking metalida fort and cinafen plus. What should I do extra? My blood sugar fasting and pp are 135 &174 and pressure 110/70. Now my hands are tremoring.

I think try cutting down on rice totally and walking or exercising. If still bsl this range thn add glycomet 500 lunch time if your total metformin dose not exceeded 2000 mg /day. Target FBS 70-120 and ppbs 120-140.

I am a diabetic since last 20 years and on insulin since last 10 years. Currently, I am taking gluconorm g4 forte - 2 tabs bl & bd, trajenta duo 2. 5/850 2 times, ecosipirin 75 mg 2 times, novorapid insulin 15 units bl and envas 5 mg 2 times daily. Please tell me what is the function of trajenta duo. Is it necessary for me to take this drug and what will happen if I do not take it?

what is your fasting blood sugar and hba1c levels?
what is your bp? have you done any other tests like urine test or other blood reports?
first you must understand what drugs you are taking
gluconorm g 4 forte has glimepiride 4 mg plus metformin 1g trajenta duo has liragliptin 2. 5 mg and metformin 850 mg.
