Hello, Thanks for the query.
There a number of rapid acting insulins like regular or analogs, all are safe and effective to use along with Glargine. There is also a combination available with regular insulin, which can be used. Thanks.

You can take a basugine (glargine) substitute for lantus it comes in vial form and much cheaper.
Ask your diabetologist to shift you from rapid acting lispro (humalog) to regular insulin (actrapid) which is cheaper but you need to take it 30 mins before each meal as action is little slower.

The data extrapolated from this trial is revealing promising and positive results. The oral formulation of this insulin, currently named ormd-0801, is in capsule form. Oramed pharmaceuticals is the first pharmaceutical company to attempt oral insulin that has progressed this far in the trial.
But you should not take anything without doctor's advise as it may be harmful.
Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Hi, in t1 diabetes, unless blood sugar is properly monitored and insulin dosage is correctly adjusted, hypoglycemic episodes can occur. You may talk to your physician and see how effectively sugar levels are maintained. This is not a situation which can be addressed by online consultation. It needs a close monitoring between you and your physician. Also you may think of using insulins like glargine or degludec which are peakless.

Mixtard has both long-acting and fast-acting insulin. So the fast-acting might cover your meal, but the long-acting will continue to drop blood sugar for 6+ hours. If you're taking both lantus and mixtard you are doubling up on your basal insulin. Lantus (insulin glargine) is effective, long-acting insulin that provides all-day blood sugar control, but it can cause low blood sugar levels, so be sure to have a source of sugar nearby.

Normally starting dose of insulin for type 2 diabetes is roughly 0.4-0.6 units/kg weight. But in type 2 diabetes insulin resistance is variable. In long standing diabetes pt whose beta cells are exhausted and who is obese insulin requirement may go beyond 2-3 units/kg. HbA1c is approx average of blood sugar control in last 3 months. More HbA1c means more uncontrolled diabetes and may require more insulin.
Normally diabetologist starts insulin considering age of patient, duration of dm, HbA1c...more
