Gem 2 MG Tablet helps in the treatment of a range of bacterial infections. It belongs to a group of drugs called the aminoglycoside antibiotics. The drug stops bacterial growth thus preventing or treating the infection.

The drug is mostly administered via an injection as per the doctor?s guidance. An injection may be administered after a span of 8 hours, depending on the health of the patient, age, weight, extensity of the infection and the body?s reaction to the medication. Generally certain laboratory tests, for instance a kidney function test may be done before administering the drug so as to determine the dosage that can be given. Such tests are regularly done once Gem 2 MG Tablet is started to check the progress of the drug and its effect on the body.

Certain common side effects of the drug include vomiting, feeling nauseous, appetite loss and stomach upset. Redness or itching at the site of the injection is very rare, if this does occur or any of the side effects worsen contact your doctor and seek relevant medical advice.

Patients should provide doctors their detailed medical history, including information about any allergies or existing health condition they suffer from before taking the injection. Especially if you suffer from medical problems like cystic fibrosis, kidney issues, Parkinson?s, or deafness inform your doctor and discuss the various possibilities of the drug use. Expecting women are also not encouraged to take this drug as it may harm the fetus. The drug is known to pass into the breast milk, but most doctors consider it safe for breast feeding mothers.

Gem 2 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of bacteremia which is an infection of the blood caused by Staphylococci and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Intraabdominal Infection
Gem 2 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections caused by Helicobacter pylori, Staphylococci and Streptococci.
Bacterial Meningitis
Gem 2 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of meningitis, which is an inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria meningitidis.
Gem 2 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of bone and joint infections like Osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococci and Streptococci species.
Skin and Soft tissue infections
Gem 2 MG Tablet is used to treat skin and soft tissue infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Gem 2 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of Pyelonephritis which is a type of kidney infection caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Avoid if you have a known allergy to Gem 2 MG Tablet or any other aminoglycosides.
In addition to its intended effect, Gem 2 MG Tablet may cause some unwanted effects too. In such cases, you must seek medical attention immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. Please inform your doctor if you experience any adverse reaction to the medication.

Furosemide Major
Gem 2 MG Tablet is not recommended with loop diuretics due to the increase in the risk of kidney injury and hearing problem. Inform the doctor if you are receiving these medicines and any symptoms of hearing loss, dizziness, numbness should be reported immediately. Frequent monitoring of kidney function tests is necessary. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs Moderate
Use of Gem 2 MG Tablet with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like diclofenac, aspirin may increase the risk of kidney injury. Any symptoms of swelling, weight gain, increased thirst, changes in the frequency of urination should be reported to the doctor. Suitable dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.
Cephalosporins Moderate
Use of Gem 2 MG Tablet with cephalosporins like ceftriaxone, cefotaxime may increase the risk of kidney injury. Any symptoms of swelling, weight gain, increased thirst, changes in the frequency of urination should be reported to the doctor. Suitable dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

Thanks for the query. When diabetes goes on for some years even when it is well controlled there is possibility of developing neuropathy. The symptoms tend to increase if the control is not ood. Looking at your treatment already there are plenty of drugs. Still control is not as desired. Ideally fasting should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c% <6.8. Therefore, there is a need to give a closer look at your diet, and exercise first. Then if need be we may have to consider adding or changing the current medications. Hello, Thanks for the query. The fasting level is fairly good, but after food is a bit high. Ideally it should be around 170 to 180 mg. There is no need to change the treatment. It is necessary to control dietary intake and increase physical activity. Thanks.

Your fasting sugar is high. You need to add one more small tab for PP sugar control. Howard and Bajra both are good. I will suggest to eat multivitamin atta or add soyabean powder in your diet.

There is no mention about blood glucose levels, so no idea whether diabetes is well controlled or not with 0.5 mg Glimepiride, When treatment is adequate fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Usual precautions are: Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made from maida and colas. Refrain from alcohol & smoking. Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Always use whole grain flour for roti and chapati. Exercise regularly for over 1 hour a day and maintain normal weight. If you have any doubts please come back. Thanks.

Does Couple Counselling or Therapy Really Work?

In general, couples who are fleeting through distressed relationship doubt if couple counseling would never work for them or not or would it be a wastage of time and money – and that stops them from seeking professional help from an expert who can save their relationship and marriage.

The problem arises because there are myths about the low success rate of couples therapy. People with no experience of good counseling or who don’t know about the subject, give the worst advice to distressed people. “Couple Counselling is a waste of money”, “rather wear gems or consult an astrologer, do yoga, meet new people” but don’t trust a trained and certified expert who is trained and experienced especially to help distressed couples and to save their relationship and marriage.

Delhi’s eminent Psychologist and Couple Counsellor Shivani Misri Sadhoo tell us that the success rate of couple therapy is extremely high. She says there has been much research done to check the success rate of couple counselling and the results are always extraordinary, for example recently a research was done by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, families and couples who have attended family or couples therapy sessions indicate high levels of patient satisfaction. Over 98% of those surveyed reported that they received good or excellent couples therapy. Respondents also reported improved physical and emotional health and the ability to communicate better at work after attending therapy.

So how couple counselling work? Counsellor Shivani Misri Sadhoo says good couple counselling works on certain basic principles and that pulls out couples from their distressed state to a positive and healthy relationship condition. These principals are:

1. Good couple counseling changes the views of the relationship.

First, the couple therapist helps both partners see the relationship in an objective manner.  The therapist helps the couples to learn to stop the “blame game” and instead look at what happens to them when they involve each partner negatively.

2. Modifies dysfunctional behavior.

Effective couple therapist attempts to change the way the partners actually behave with each other. This means that in addition to helping them improve their interactions, therapists ensures that their clients are not engaging in actions that can cause physical, psychological or economic harm to self or to their partner.

3. Decreases Emotional Avoidance

Couples who avoid expressing their innermost feelings put themselves at a greater risk of becoming emotionally distant and hence grow apart. Effective couples therapist helps their clients bring out the emotions and thoughts that they fear expressing to the other person. Attachment-based couples therapy allows the partners to feel less afraid of expressing their needs for closeness.

4. Improves Communication

An effective couple counsellor focuses on helping the partners to communicate more effectively. The new communication mode which the counsellor redevelops within couples is not abusive, nor does it ridicule partners when they express their true feelings. The counsellor helps the couples learn to listen more actively and empathically.

5. Promotes strengths

Effective couple therapists point out the strengths in the relationship and build resilience particularly as therapy nears a termination.  The point of promoting strength is to help the couple to gain back their trust, their love, their bliss and satisfaction which was put on the back burner by both the partners.

  2. Tooth is etched with 37% orthophosphoric acid for about 30 seconds. This will improve the bonding of the jewelry to the tooth structure
  3. The etchant is then rinsed off with water and the tooth is again dried for about 10 seconds
  4. A light-curing bonding agent is applied on the tooth, left in place for about 20 seconds, light-cured, rinsed off and dried again
  5. Place a small amount of flow composite on the tooth surface
  6. Using a small forceps, pick up the jewel to be placed on the tooth without touching with fingers. Avoid skin contact especially on the back of the jewel. Position it in the desired way and apply gentle pressure
  7. The jewel should be in close contact with the enamel, pushing out the excess composite material from the tooth structure
  8. While still in the dental chair, show it to the patient on a mirror and make minor adjustments if required
  9. Once the final position is achieved, cure the composite thoroughly for about 60 seconds. Cure it from all side including the back of the tooth.
  10. It takes about 4 minutes for the entire placement easy, is it not?
