There is no time restriction on usage of febuxostat. It has to be taken till your uric acid level drops and then as maintainence needs to be continued at lower dose.

Continue the medicine for a month or two, or as advised by your physician. You need to repeat uric acid after 1 to 2 months to know whether you should continue to take the medicine Avoid organ meat as they can raise uric acid. If you can avoid non-vegetarian food till it becomes normal, it€™s good for you. Avoid sugars as it helps
If you take alcohol, try cutting it down as this will increase uric acid
