Hello lybrate-user,
flu - influenza, is a viral infection. Lay man usually called mild cold and fever as flu but it's symptoms are more severe. It causes fever, bodyache, sore throat and dry cough and headaches. It is contagious as a person develops symptoms after 3-4 days and so during this period it spreads.
