M. S. in Psychotherapy and Counselling

Psychologist•Jaipur
Hi, first of all I would suggest you that for medication part you should talk to your treating doctor so that he can make changes in doses or medicines. Secondly I would highly suggest you to go for cbt and erp therapies with a good psychotherapist. Cognitive behaviour therapy works wonders in case of anxiety and exposure response prevention therapy works very effectively in ocd.
For further help you may contact me here on Lybrate.

Hello,
Escita contains escitalopram and is a safe drug. To monitor its side effect your doctor will prescribe regular test as required. In OCD a drug is tried at its maximum tolerable dosage for 3 month to check its effectiveness so its ok for you to take escita. Its advisable not to stop medication on own to avoid withdrawal symptoms or relapse of symptoms. For further help you can consult me.

Fluoxetine very commonly causes erection problems, discuss with your psychiatrist, there are many alternatives which are effective for anxiety but have lesser sexual side effects. Surprised to hear your doctor has asked you to continue the same despite sexual side effect. All the best.

Hi Lybrate user, fluoxetine (or other drugs of the same class) have a propensity to cause sexual side effects upto the tune of about 70%. However these often go unnoticed or unreported. But these are transiewnt and often go when the meds are stopped.

Dear, prescribed drugs are not antipsychotics, so you need to correct your knowledge regarding drugs and alcohol both.
Also, dear kuma have some faith in your doctor regarding the treatment.
Amitriptyline is a good drug.
Or you can take a second opinion frm other psychiatrist.
Take care.
