5 years means persistent depression (long term depression), so most likely life long treatment. Prepare your mind for this. It is like treating diabetes or hypertension, so don't worry. But meet your psychiatrist regularly and don't take these over the counter/ self medication, as they need monitoring and regular blood testing to find if there are any untoward effects. All the best.

It is ill-advised to do anything with regulating your medication without the doctor's recommendation. However, I am of the opinion that you seek the help of a counselor and develop some skills and techniques to counter the anxiety and ocd. This is a fear-based condition and for some reason you have not been dealing with a childhood fear which has now developed unto these repetitive adaptations to seem to need it for normal functioning. Dear lybrate-user, try this method many people are success first and most sleep early wake up early at 4.0 am and study with fresh mind, of course subjects which you are not interested you must spend more time and repeat it many times" practice makes perfect" not only human including pets. Switch off mobile phone when you go to bed and switch it on at 6am.
