Both are benzodiazepines and come under schedule x drug and need to be taken as per doctor s advice, preferably a specialist and not over the counter. Both act differently and both are sedative. So exercise caution. Good luck.

It is not good continue medicine. It leads side effects. Better to come out from medicine. For depression psychological counselling will helps very much. I think you never attend for counselling. Strong counselling sessions are required. Use the medicine whenever you feel normal then leave it. It is best as soon as possible you should come out from the medicine. Years together you use your mind addicted to medicine. Suppose in future you cannot sleep properly without medicine. It is always bette...more

There is nothing called better or inferior. All medications are tailored to an individual depending on the symptoms, response and tolerability. Over the Counter self medication and self medication by googling is dangerous to one's body and mind. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine and can cause severe dependence and side effects on a longer run. Escitalopram ad Sertraline are SSRI's and need to be prescribed carefully adjusting/ titrating dosage by a psychiatrist. Hope this info helps.

Hello lybrate-user,
Both the salts have their pros and cons and it all depends on the patient's overall symptomatology when it comes of choosing one. None of them is outrightly superior over the other.
Please be warned that you must not take tale any of these without consulting a psychiatrist. Sometimes a wrong choice of drug or a wrong dose can lead to serious health problems and worsening of anxiety.

Vitamin e and levocarnitine are antioxidant and involved in lipid metabolism respectively so it could lead to overall improvement in fatigue and decreased energy. Escitalopram is an anti depressant medication used to treat depression and some other disorders like obsessive compulsive disorder.

Dear Lybrate-User,
Please consult the psychiatrist who prescribed it to you. If it is with suicidal intent, she/he may add another drug/ect/therapy/admission to hospital. If it is impulsive, she/he may discuss this issue in therapy. Observe yourself, if any symptoms come up, go to the hospital for symptomatic treatment.

Dear lybrate-user the symptoms you described appears to be sever in nature. Medication prescribed appears to be appropriate, but I feel dose is less for severity. Probably they started in this dose to avoid side effect. Though I should not interfere with ongoing treatment, but I feel if you give etizolam twice or thrice than reslessness should reduce. If it is already done than increasing it's dose should help. Mirtaz dose need to be increased based on improvement and side effect. Since patient ...more

Hello there, This is Nasrat, 29 years old, I`m suffering form depression since last four years while I have last my beloved brother. So, I took different kinds of medications such as fluoxetine 20 mg, escitalopram 10 mg, paroxetine 10 mg, mirtazapine USP 15 mg, venlafaxine Hcl 75 mg, Lithium carbonate B.P. 400 mg etc. But still I have the same problem, difficulty in thinking (poor concentration, poor memory), excessive feel of guilt, loss of interest in most activities, sleep disturbances, decreased energy or tiredness, feeling of low self confidence, feeling of hopelessness, decrease in activity, excessive or inappropriate worries, anticipation of the worst, thoughts of suicide. Besides, I have premature ejaculation and no sexual desire. So, I`m really disappointed. Are there any solution for my problems? Its mentionable that when I was in Japan, I took Lorazepam (0, 5 mg), Brotizlolam (0, 25 mg), Trazodone (25 mg), Suvorexant (20 mg), Escitalopram (10 mg), Lansoprazole (15 mg) for 8 months, with those medications I felt very well, but unfortunately, when I returned to my country, there were no those medications available, and my depression attacked me again. So, dear doctors Please please please recommend me what to do? I`m not interested to live in this world but, I`m the only person to support my big family. At the same time, I took (Clarithromycin 500 mg, Amoxicillin 1000 mg 14 days), (Lansoprazole 30 mg 3 months) for positive h pylori but did not work. Again, I took (Clarithromycin 500 mg, metronidazole, Amoxicillin 1000 mg 14 days), (esomeprazole 40 mg 3 months) for positive h pylori but still I have the same issue. Your cooperation would be highly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Dear lybrate-user,
You need a proper diagnosis before going in for treatment. If h pylori is confirmed, it needs active treatment. Premature ejaculation and loss of sexual desire also needs to be diagnosed and treated. At Japan, you were treated with Lorazepam (available in India). Instead of brotizolam, you can try etizolam available in India. Trazodone available in India. Suvorexant is another mild hypnotic. You don't need so many hypnotic and anxiolytic. Lorazepam or etizolam will do. Esc...more
