No drug is safe. You need to take it whenever the benefit exceeds the side effect. If you are using it without doctor's prescription, if you feel safe in storing the tablet, if you are increasing the dose over years, if your main worry is getting the tablet and if you are neglecting your responsibilities, probably you have become dependent on it.
If you are using it to reduce your anxiety, it is better that you learn a non medical method of managing your anxiety.

Apart from that you need exercise regularly so that your body also naturally tries to cope with depression by releasing endorphins during exercise.
