My wife recently diagnosed with mdrtb and she is on 2nd line antibiotics. Now she s taking cycloserine (BD, ethambutol 800mg, levofloxacin 750mg, ethionamide (BD, pyrazinamide, kanamycin 500mg IM Now she is taking her drugs in the morning and even after taking anti emetics she s having nausea. So can we change the drug timing to night?

I am currently taking Ethambutol 1600 mg, ETHIONAMIDE 1000 mg CYCLOSERINE 1000 mg, levofloxin 1000 mg, pyridoxine 100 mg, feburic 40 mg, setolac 300 r, thyronorm 150. Will be taking these medicines for 2 years for MDR TB treatment. 1 year is already over. Questions is, with these many tablets my pulmonologist asked me to take PAN 40 tablet everyday for these two years. Is it ok to take this medicine? Will it impact my future life?

Pan40 over 2 years is optional. If it is taken in an interrupted even then the purpose will be served .It will not impact your future life.

You need to have patience. MDR medication need time in months. Its is 2 year course so have patience, good diet and regular follow up is advised for you.

My sister name is kavya age 26 has got a positive tv test I don't know what's doctors are thinking they have prescribed some medicines like kanamycin injection 750 mg every day for 4 months and tablets like solonex 300 mg moxif 400 mg ethide 250 mg pyzina 750 mg combutol 800 mg what exactly are these medicines is this the best treatment given to a tb patient is there any other better treatment for tb patient.

these medicines are used treat MDR-TB resistance to rifampicin and inh. Dose is not adequate also. The drug regimen should be decided after properly determining the type of TB. MDR TB is a bacteriological diagnosis, so the treatment should be based on bacteriological findings and sensitivity.

Sir this is with reference to earlier asked question of krantidevi v gupta for tb treatment since 7 months her lft reports of 7th aug are in normal range and inh 300 is started on 21 st aug can I now stop ethide 250 and roxid 150 and weight is also maintained same she is having lot of itching and confusion and some memory problems.

Tb treatment is for 6 months in most cases. Can assess with xray chest, haemogram, sputum afb and past treatment history whether to continue medicine or not. Need rifampicin, ethambutol and isoniazid combination as maintenance therapy.

Hello sir I am. Taking MDR tb medicine from. Last 3 months my TB back. Again.after 1 year I am taking cycloserine 500 mg ethambutol 800 mg pyrazinamide 1500 mg levofloxacin 500 mg ethionamide 500 ml cycloserine 500 mg kanamycin 750 ml daily I am both refamcin and isonazide resistance I want to know is this conventional 24 month course or new 12 month short regimen treatment I consult another doctor who. Is saying this is long time course.

My sister is taking a medicine of mdr tb taking ethide 500 cyclorin 500 combutol 1000 pyzina mode 750 kanycin 750 levoflox 500 daily before 1 week she takes a sputum test and test is positive she is taking a medicine from 5 month how long it takes to become positive is all medicine is ok all medicine is prescribed by doctor I'm little tensed she increase 8 kg weight also but why sputum came positive.

Cause for worry. Need evaluation of all reports by a respiratory physician. Need culture and sensitivity for second line drug by line probe.

My mother 80 years old is on tb treatment since 8 months for 1st three months she was given rifampicin 300 inh 300 pyzina 750 combutol800 then in 4th month pyzina was stopped and rifampicin 450 along with inh 300 and combutol800 was continued after 20 days due to jaundice all medicines were discontinued n ethide 250 roxid 150 levoflox 750 was started n comb 800 was added after 15 days after 1 month pyzina750 also added know in 8th month inh 300 also added so which earlier medicines should be stopped her wt is 47 kg know losing 1 kg per month after jaundice.

Post hepatitis the treating doctor is the best judge particularly for 80 year old citizen
ethambutol and levofloxacin or moxifloxacin stretomycin safe for liver
but other side effects to be watched while giving a regimen.

My wife is 62 yrs female. Suffering from cns tuberculosis with multiple tuberculomas since 25th january, 2015. Taking first line medicines from 25th jan. I. E. Rcinex 450/300, combutol 600, pyraziramide 1250 daily empty stomach. Also streptomycine 0.75 injections daily. But after taking 75 injection doctor asked me to stop as she lost hearing from right ear. Combutol is also stopped due to eyes opening become problem in light. Besides dexamethasone 4mg thrice and eption 100 mg bd. Is also given daily along with pentocide dsr bd. After two months mri scan exhibit increase in lessions so doctor started second line treatment for the last 20 days adding ethide 250 mg bd and levofrox 750 mg od. Still having daily body temperature up to 100 which goes down of its own in 8-12 hrs. Body weight is decreasing and weakness rising. What should be done. Vomiting also comes despite taking emset 4 mg sometimes.

Realy bad as she is developing drug side effect. She is under good adv. She is not responding as she is not tolerating medicine even in low dose. Combutol as per her wt should be 1000mg.

I have Pulmonary tb since 6 month. I am taking tb medicines regularly. But in between there was pleural fluid built up in my chest. I drained and there were certain test. Like gene expert. Pus culture. And afb culture. There was no rif resistance. Pus culture shows. Gram positive bacilli. Afb and staphylococcus aureus organism. At present from 3 month I have been on both first line drug rcinex 450 and combutol 800. And second line kanamycin 1000 alternate days. Coxerine 250 BD, Ethide 250 BD, And Levomac 750, after taking all this medicine still there is collection of fluid like COLD ABSCESS in My Chest near left side Upper portion. What do now is it some other disease. Should I Go any other test why fluid is building up. Or should I continue same treatment. I have drained fluid 3 times. And it's still there. Please help me out. From such a complicated disease. Can anyone tell WHAT DISEASE IS IT. Help.me Please. Request to all doctors help me.

When there is no rifampicin resistance what is the rationality of using second line drugs in your case. Only recurrent collection of cold abscess does not indicate drug resistance. Continuation of the first line treatment following which if cold abscess persists the total duration of therapy has to be increased for a total of 9 months. Persistent problem even after that demands surgical intervention. It is not any other disease and Tuberculosis can explain all these features. Wish you speedy rec...more
