I am 59 years old, Schizophrenic since 1987. I was put on various drugs since then and got relief. Of late, I am having hallucinations and delusions and hence am prescribed Trinicalm Plus 1-0-1 and Sizopin 50 mg 0-0-1. There is relief. But Trifluoperazine is causing me mild itching. My Psychiatrist has told me that this drug is also an anti-histamine and hence itching might be due to something else, but to take cetrizine, if only itching persists. I am taking cetrizine 10 mg 1-0-0, since a week and there is no itching. My question is whether to continue cetrizine as long as I am on Trifluoperazine or just stop after taking for a week? Also confirm whether cetrizine has got any side effects or is it habit forming? KIndly be specific in answers.

Greeting. My father had undergone hydatid liver surgery in 2015. Post surgery he recovered well. One year after surgery he developed anxiety, stress, restlessness so doctor advised peace tablet (chlordiazepoxide and trifluoperazine. Now he wants to stop this medication. Is it safe to stop peace tablet medication suddenly? Or there will be withdrawal symptoms? Please reply.

He needs to be evaluated by a qualified psychiatrist before changing the dose or stopping the medication. Stopping the medication suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms and aggravate anxiety possibly.

Dear sir, I always get useless thoughts comes in my minds and I cannot control over it and it gives heavy stress on my brain/skull muscles and due to that sometimes I get headache, paining all around shoulder muscles, generate gases, neck muscles paining, paining and flickering of left eyes muscles, paining behind the left ear muscles and paining that vain which goes from left shoulder to left eye via left brain. Also, once I am continuously working more than one hour by giving full attention in my work then my neck muscles giving full pain. But recently as per doctors advice once I have stop to take MODAFIL MD 100 TAB and ESPAZINE 1MG TAB medicine again my problem start and I get the same thing as I described in above. Dear Lybrate doctor, I need not have to tell you about my mental condition and the drugs taken to counter them, since I have elaborated them in my previous texts. You have been very patient in answering queries, not bothering about the times I ask them. I have a lot of trust in you and my queries are purely a second opinion detail, before being thrown into the fray right away. Depression and anxiety are taken care of by nexito forte & clonotril .25 mg and hence there are no issues here. The main problem is to find a suitable combination to counter my schizophrenia. As mentioned to you in my previous queries, I have tried so many combinations, some with relief and some found wanting. Due to financial constraints, I am unable to afford for costly drugs. The latest combination goes this way:- 1)trinicalm plus 1-0-1. 2)sizopin 75 mg 0-0-1. This combination is cheap and hence affordable. My query is:- can this combination be taken together or either they are contraindicated or there will be any drug interactions. Also, highlight me about trifluoperazine (trinicalm plus), it’s uses, side effects and drug interactions. At present, for depression/anxiety, I am on nexito forte along with clonotril 0.25 mg and sizopin and cizorest for schizophrenia. There is relief please answer my queries. Thanks.
