What you say is true. So use the drug only when you have symptoms. Or, alternatively, you can use only pro-kinetic drugs without proton pump inhibitors such as cisapride or mosapride or cintapride.

Hello
do not take medicines on your own decision.
For acidity you should take ayurveda treatment its more effective.
Also you will have to make lifestyle changes.
Avoid spicy food.
Indigestion if any should be corrected.
Regularize food eating timings.
Avoid fast food.
Do daily morning walk 30 mins.
Do not eat late night.
Revert back if problem is not solved will prescribe you effective ayurveda medicines.

But the question is about side effects or safety profile.
