Little bit difference. Side effects like swelling over legs is less with S-Amlodipine, Also efficacy is little superior of S-Amlodipine but if her BP is controlled with Amlodipine you can continue with that.

You can start with 2.5 mg at bed time initially (Max effect of the drug should be present in Early morning hours) and check your Blood pressure at several times .If it reaches 130/80 you can continue that. Oslo effect starts after 3-4 days. Full effect takes about one month.

BP can fluctuate widely with situation. High during pain, discomfort stress etc. For deciding about bp medicines It should be measured when person is comfortable and resting for few minutes.

Eslo (amlodipine) should not be taken in pregnancy. There are other medicines like labetalol and methyldopa which should be taken for high BP in pregnancy.
