Dear lybrate user, There is no difference in their mechanism of action. Sizodon is absorbed in the stomach and intestines before getting into blood stream whereas sizodon MD dissolves in the mouth itself and works the same way as sizodon does, if it is put in the mouth. Nothing to worry. Both are same.

I am 57 years old, male and having Schizophrenia since 1987. I have taken innumerous drugs and at the present I am on Sizodon plus 0-0-1.

Although this is a long time and you will probably remain so on medication you must still persevere. Schizophrenia is a very complex and difficult disease to treat, even with medication. All psychotropic medicines have side-effects: that is inescapable. But I suspect that you are depending entirely on medication when in reality you need to combine it with counseling or therapy. In therapy you will learn a lot of coping mechanisms and techniques to remain functional and lead a close-to-normal life. You will also learn about emotions and how they can impact your condition adversely. Expressing emotions in an appropriate manner will equip you for life. Talking and sharing about the many disturbing thoughts and learning to understand yourself and moderate your responses will go a long way towards normalizing and training your mind. Exercise must be a regular part of your life for various reasons. Put yourself on a productive and strict schedule. The idle mind is the devil's workshop for sure, and more so for a schizophrenic.

Hello Sir/madam, I have been on sizodon 1 mg at night for OCD over one and half month. But I feel that it is causing me to go through sleepless nights. Although I become too tired at night, I can't get a sleep of more than 5 hours. Is it normal? Does sizodon cause sleeplessness?

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Sizodon 0.5 mg tablet belongs to the drug group known as atypical antipsychotic, used in the treatment of psychotic disorders. This medication can treat schizophrenia and manic depression, both symptoms of bipolar disorder. It is also used for treating irritability symptoms in children suffering from autism. I suggest telephonic counseling for you. You can contact me for further advice and treatment options. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Dear Ashok, It is difficult to live with dementia. For you it is difficult to see her without talking or overtalking. At the age of 81 years most of her systems work less efficiently. You have to learn to use trial and error method to adjust drugs's dose. For the time being, please continue Donamem. Try and stop Sizodon. Manage her with trika. If she is hyper, give her again Sizodon 0.5 mg once a day, probably at night when you don't want her to be hyper. Please check any other medical condition is causing these hyperactive or not speaking state. It might be dehydration or electrolyte imbalance or hypoglycemia or fever. Once the medical condition is treated, she may not need Sizodon.
