Dear friend,
First of all, I am so sorry to hear that you had a seizure recurrence even after a successful course completion of anti seizure medication. But honestly I should share you the true statistics: almost 30-40 percent of patients (varies among different literature) may have seizure recurrence after successfully completing anti epileptic course. The medications listed above are prescribed for seizures (Epilepsy). You are experiencing side effects of these medications. Do not abruptly stop these medications, as you can have seizure. Discuss with your doctor, who will after taking into consideration many factors like total number of seizures, last seizure, any brain abnormality on Imaging, past response to treatment, etc decide upon the future medications.

All antiepileptic medicines have side effects and there is no benefit of giving medicine which is not able to control the disease, so switching over to the other is good.

If your mother is on regular medications with eptoin 300 mg daily for the last three years and has not had any seizure since 3 years. (i. E. Its 3 years complete after she had her last seizure), stopping medications can be considered.
However it is always advisable to consult your treating physician to gradually taper the dose according to age, serum drug levels and eeg status. If she has a breakthrough seizure she might have to continue the withdrawn dose.
