Expectorants help thin mucus, making it easier to cough up. The ingredient guaifenesin is the only expectorant in the U.S., so look for it on the label if you need an expectorant. Suppressants help cut the number of times you cough. The active ingredient listed is usually dextromethorphan (DM).

You need to prevent exposure to certain triggers which are causing your problem by doing an allergy profile. No need to take antibiotics if you don't have associated infection. You may continue other medications + also do steam inhalation.
If you are still facing problem, feel free to consult me online in this app for.

It is viral upper respiratory tract infection. It will take at least 1 week. So you should take all precautions and routine warm water gargles. Plus you need to take cough suppressent like Alex, benedryl, grillinctus, any of these for 1 week. It will be cleared in 1 week. Don't worry.
