I am using enalapril and since I started a few months ago I have noticed a difficulty in having an erection. Is it the effect of the medicine and if yes what can I do? Thanks.

Yes two main medicines decreases interest in sex 1.enalapril
2.hydrochlorthiazide
stop this drug and control bp by arb inhibitors like telmisartan.

Hello, I'm using Enalapril for Hypertension, for about 2 or 3 years. My bloodpressuse was (in the evening) about 160/100. And now it's under control (<120/80). I do notice that it can easily rise when I'm e.g. Worried. My question is, the side effects mention "high potassium" but due to this medication I get a "low potassium" My doctor prescribed me spironolactone next to the enalapril to increase the potassium. Is this normal?

enalapril is one of the safest med for bp.
but u should for regular followups at least once in a month as bp meds can cause electrolyte imbalance

You can get non invasive cardiac ct scan of heart which is as effective as angiography but not traumatic, less time in hospital-only few hours & costs less -8000/- only. Good to know about your progress after stent. Keep it up. Scan is to know the present status of heart.

Hi waseem you seem to be too young to get hypertension. But it's not uncommon either. Whether you need to increase your dosage or not depends upon your bp level and not by your feeling weak or otherwise. Kindly get your bp checked and dose adjusted. You may have to reduce the dose also.

Prostatomegaly is a continuous process of aging. As there was prostatomegaly with symptoms so your physician advised you that particular medicine and the prostate size is slightly reduced. So you should continue the medicine and review yearly with usg and psa level. Then if the symptoms not subsided or the size is increased consider the op. For prostate. I'm a 49 year old woman who has been suffering from hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, systematic lupus. I'm using sildenafil chloroquine hydrochlorothiazide soluspirin simvastatin enalapril and atenolol. Some day's i'm suffering from headaches, dizziness, light chess pains, heavy leg's and arms and i'm just very tired. All that comes at the same times. My heavy leg's and arms happen almost every day. Is that normal.

With metoprolol, some amount of feet swelling is expected. Try to keep your feet raised while sitting and sleeping and try walking about at regular intervals, without sitting or standing for prolonged periods. As for acidity, aspirin is the culprit, but since you need it for your heart condition, try to manage it with plenty of water and avoiding spicy food.

I am hypertensive and diabetic type 2 I take Metoprolol with Telmisartan in the morning and Enalapril at night, I use to drink alcohol before and stopped from a year now, since I had rapid heart beat and anxious persona I preferred beta blockers but when I took Atenolol I find it cool but my doctor gave me Metoprolol vs Atenolol, Metoprolol gave me vivid dreams and disturbed sleep can I have a good advice please My creatinine levels are 1.54 now after re check its 1.23 any good suggestion please I take Tenglyn M 1/2 + 1/2 for diabetes.

Enalapril and telmisartan should not be combined. Atenolol causes less sleep disturbances than metoprolol. They have never been directly tested versus each other, take the one that you find better.
