Asked for male, 34 years old from Hyderabad

Dear doctor I am 35 year male. From last 12 years I am Taking encorate chrono 500 mg, clonotril .5 mg, eptoin 100 mg due to epilepsy (JME. Recently lamitor DT was stopped. Doctor is reducing the dosage. Recently 3 years back I had a check up and found diabetic. I was consulting another doctor simultaneously and started taking both medicines. For diabetic I am taking metfil G2, Rozat F 10 mg and zoryll 1 mg. How long will neurons medicine may take sir? Taking diabetic and neuro medicines simultaneously will cause any problem?

You may require 3 to 5 years long course of anticonvulsants Medicine and then trial to decrease and stopping Medicine is done. If no seizures episode then you can stop anticonvulsant. No interaction normally occurs but be regular check up and regular consultation with your doctor.

I am having child of age about 8 years old he is having epilepsy problem from age of 11 months old. We are giving some drugs such as encorate chrono 300 mg, oxameztol 150 mg daily morning and evening. We are using these type of drugs but now ok, but he getting epilepsy and sometimes only in sleeping time only. Now we took recent EEG in that what is report is "background activity in alpha range. Spike and wave discharges are seen (more on left). Hyperventilation induced no abnormal activity. Photic stimulation induces fair driving response. Intermittent spike wave are seen" this is report given eeg. What is meaning and this epilepsy was not cured or not. How to prevent this completely. What us the way we have to proceed. How this will be curable. So please give me suggestions.

My brother is 24 years old and he is severe epileptic. He has been diagnosed for fits since childhood. In nov 2017 we took him to sree chitra hospital in kerala for treatment where he was prescribed oxetol 600, encorate chrono 500, frisium 10 mg, levipil 750 mg whose dose is gradually decreasing by 250 mg every month and will stop after may and lametac 100 whose dose will start decreasing by 50 mg from may every month. Since november he os having no fits but since then he is on bed all the time and feeling acute dizziness. He is not able to move on his own without support. All the time he is feeling sleepy. I want to know that is this normal or not and for how long he will have to bear this.

Hello lybrate-user, antiepileptic medication like encorate chrono can cause sedation. Its better to show to your doctor adjusting the dosage, keeping antiepileptic causing sedation at night time, maintaining proper hydration may resolve the issue. Do not decrease the dose without proper guidance from your doctor. Best wishes.

Nowadays I forgot everything, i'm feeling depressed, always feel sleepy, headache,no concentration, no focus on anything weight gain, hair loss. Should I stop medicines? Hello,
I am not sure that you are suffering from schizophrenia, symptoms are more suggestive of depression which can be treated effectively, if you list out your symptoms in chronological order right from the beginning I will be able to guide you better. Depression is a very much treatable disorder and you should concentrate on that.

I was diagnosed with gtcs and prescribed to take encorate chrono 300 mg twice daily. But after consulting in nimhans, I ve been diagnosed with syncope (no gtcs) and hv been asked to stop the medicine after consulting neurologist. I am now gradually decreasing the dose like 300 mg during day and 200 mg at night fir 10 days. Then 200 mg twice daily for next 10 days. Then 300 mg once daily for 10 days and finally 200 mg once daily for next days. Is it the correct way of stopping the medicine or shld I change the dose some other way? please suggest.

Dear doctor ,My son aged 24 is showing peculiar behaviour. 1}He is having curly hair on his head which he dislikes most. He wants it to be straight. So frequent he visit to Salon for hair straightening even fourrdays apart. By using excessive chemical his hair were broken and damaged. Then he started to make it straight by putting any oil whatever oil is found in the household. A full 250ltr bottle oil he pours on his head. And keep remain luke that. When he does not find oil he started putting water again and again at least 20 times at a stretch. He will go to bathroom put water one mug and comeback count and again he will go to bathroom for watering. After that he started sweeping floor and collect all. Dust rubbish put it on his head. On wet head it will stick. Then he starts combing again again .This continuous process will make his hair somewhat straight. We tried to convince him about the bad effect of floor dust but he starts requesting only once he will give. His face becomes so. Sad if we are strict. He starts. Begging us for putting dust on his head. I asked him why are you doing this? He answers this action will make him. Satisfied.Its. His strong desire he cannot control over. He feels tense if he can not do this. He feels in his inside always" something is kept pending .Some task is pending. So he can not even sleep. He has to put floor dust at least five times. Then he keeps hair combed and remain like this for hours till morning. After getting up from bed he will do it again at first then brushing teeth. It makes us worried. This is happening since six months. When we go for a tour this action is stooped in new place except putting water. i in winter night too .If we forbids or prevents him he argue" I am not disturbing you. Why will you prevent me. From doing my job? If he does not perform this watering and putting dust he feels tension and tell us" some thing is disturbing his mind pricking makes him. Crazy for doing this. Some task is. Unfulfilled" Apart from this he has special choice to select his bed. He always keep changing his bed place but never his pillow. He will stick to his particular pillow. Next he keeps all clothes of his mother under his pillow. On question he replies "my mothers hair is straight so if I am in touch with mothers clothes her gene will enter in to me to make my hair straight. He keeps 12combs with him and carry on combing. With each comb. And this comb he has arranged by stealing from his sisters room too. He is taking following medicine with no result 1}RISDONE LS (risperidone 4 mg) bd 2}ENCHORET CHRONO300 mg (Sodium valporate and valproic acid) bd 3}Prodep 60+40{fluoxetine) od This has makes his sugar level high in blood 220 pp.

Case history. I have been suffering from seizure since I was one year. It first started as febrile seizure and I had been on sodium valproate. I remained seizure free for 3-4 years span when on medication. But after withdrawal of med again I had seizure attack and again started med. This episode continued till 18 years of age. But I discontinued med abruptly and suffered attack then again started med valparin chrono 300 mg twice daily. And further discontinued it. After remain seizure free without medication for 2 years I suffered attack on 16.2.18. Doctor at bangalore prescribed levipil and valparin. I took it for few days and give up med. Then after 2 and 4 months I again suffered attack on 15th of June 2018. I started valparin chrono 300 mg 2 tab at night but few doses again skipped. And I suffered attack on 15th July 2018. The attack was for a brief period 3-4 minutes and I had fever also with tonsillitis. Heavy headache and nausea after attack. And I went to deep sleep. I took levipil and valparin on 15th night.

On 4th April 2015 I got an Epilepsy attack in morning around 5 A.M. My wife told me that whole body got folded and after Epilepsy I was feeling vomiting issues. After 5 days I realized that some sound is coming from my mind or Ear I do not know but it is coming continuously. Till then I have contacted many Neuro /ENT .Some one says its Tinnitus and I have started medicine. Epilepsy : Encorate Chrono 500 MG two times (Regularly). For Tinnitus : Bilovas and rejunex cd. Some of my friends have told that you are not taking correct medicine for Epilepsy so you are hearing this sound as an side effect. I am not sure because all 3 Neuro doctors have prescribed me same medicine for Epilepsy. Kindly suggest me that if this can be the case or not. I am really confused and getting depressed / anxiety issues now.

I was having epilepsy problem 15 years ago & from then I regularly taking eptoin 100 & encorate chrono 200. I have no fit from last 15 years. But from last 2-3 months I have started feeling a different kind of problem, I started a deep coughing problem & after taking medicine the problem of coughing was fully resolved. But now I am having a different kind of problem in night time, in every 5-6 days in early morning time (between 4 am to 6 am) I suddenly starts feeling problem in taking breath & my sleep is. Broken.& I need to take inhaler for controlling my breath. I have started taking adel 10 (homeopathic medicine) from which I am feeling better. Am I on the right track? Pls suggest.

Health Query

I feel difficult in breathing while climbing upstairs, washing clothes etc (மூச்சு வாங்கும்). Tested blood. All parameters are ok. No sugar and bp. No smoking. Non alcoholic. Use snuff. Taking valproic acid as per doctor's advice. Taking modlip am. Taken spirometry test. Lung average is 111 and 53.5%. I am aged 68. Male. Used to suffer from allergic bronchitis at times. No asthma.
