lybrate-user. thanks for the query. It is difficult to answer. Insulin resistance develops mainly due excessive fat collection around internal organs like liver & pancreas. Secondly due to overall increase in body fat, hyperglycemia and inactivity. So it is difficult to say how long will last. A rapid lifestyle change, weight reduction and reduction in glucotoxicity & lipotoxicity, reduces insulin resistance fairly fast. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, insulin injections are usually taken with the help of special syringe ment for that. It has very thin needle. The injection has to be taken below the skin, in the subcutaneous layer. (in between skin and muscle). Now a day there are specially designed pens which give correct preset doses, with almost painless prick. The sites also are explained to the patient- like on the abdomen, around the umbilicus, on the lateral (outer) aspect of the thigh and on upper arm. It is always ad...more

Since you can't replace the missing body fat, your aim will be avoiding complications. A healthy lifestyle plays a big role.

Everyone with lipodystrophy should eat a low-fat diet. But children still need enough calories and good nutrition so they grow properly. Exercise will help her stay healthy, too. Physical activity lowers blood sugar and can keep fat from building up dangerously.

Weight reduction, controlled diet, regular exercise, avoiding high fatty foods, junk foods, pastries and other bakery items. Sweetened aerated drinks, fructose corn syrup containing products, highly processed products, alcohol and smoking, are few of the things which reduce insulin resistance. Looking at your weight and height, bmi is 25 kgs/m2, which is not very high. But if there is central obesity, then that contributes to insulin resistance. Reducing glucose level and bringing down body fat ...more
