Dear sekhar,
what are your current dosages of psychotropics and the clear indication of each? What are your current active symptoms, though it is understandable that you have bipolar disorder but what type, I don’t know yet.
As being a pharmacist yourself, I am expecting you to have this information about yourself.
You can mail me at email to discuss these issues in detail, as it will be tricky to titrate multiple medications.
Take care.

Hi. I have suffered from depression since last 2 years and for that I took ssri - escitalopram 20 mg for 3 months and duloxetine - 40 mg for 4 months in all. I am off all drugs since march 2020. Fortunately I have not felt many withdrawal symptoms and come off it much easily as compared to others as I read. Currently though, I am feeling emotional numbness/ anhedonia, which is inability to feel anything. This is also hampering my ability to think clearly, and rationally and remember things. I felt it since I started drugs. But now it is improving. I am currently taking 1000 mg of fish oil only and it is helping me immensely to manage my depression. Do I need to take any other drugs/supplement for faster recovery or should I wait to recover it naturally? How much time it requires to improve?

Hi lybrate-user, 2 years of suffering from depression affects all thought process, the time period you used antidepressants is less. The feelings of anhedonia, difficulty in thinking clearly and not remembering things are symptoms of depression, not side effects of medication. Currently what you are experiencing seems like relapse of depression. Fish oil is a supplement, only supportive. For example reducing salt for high bp or taking proper diet for diabetes. If you want faster recovery, you ha...more

You are into an anger-related depression and need the assistance of a counselor too. This I am sure you have not tried and that is why there is so much trouble coming out of the depression. So find a good counselor and work with that person along with the medication you are taking. A lot of your symptoms are either induced by the depression or is a part of the disorder. So they should all stand to benefit if you combined the two therapies. In the meantime please do the following sincerely becaus...more

I am 67 years old and was working after retirement also till a few months ago. Immediately after retirement I started feeling some sort of anxiety and depression for which I consulted a psychologist who suggested to do blood test and after that prescribed thyronorm50 tablet for sometime and some sleeping tablets since I was having sleep disturbance also at that time. Since there was no relief after 3 months ,I contacted him again and he referred me to a psychiatrist who prescribed Nitravet 10 and Symbal20 which I started taking and the things improved and as per the Doctors advice I withdrew it slowly. For next 6 months I was O.K but again started having the same symptoms. So I consulted the Doctor who advised me to start taking the medicine again which I did. This process is going on for the last 7 years and kindly advise me a permanent solution for withdrawing the medicines and live a normal life. I was having sleep disorders and I am continuing it for the last 7 years eventhough in between we stopped the other medicine except Thyronorm which is now increased to 75 mg after seeing the 6 monthly blood tests. Kindly advice.

The psychologist who prescribed medications is a quack, he has no business prescribing thyronorm and sleeping bills, report him to the authorities. You might be having chronic depression, follow your psychiatrist advise, and if needed meet a clinical psychologist with rci (rehabilitation council of india) registration for counselling.
