First of all, I need to know the diagnosis for which you are following this treatment. What you are taking now is the treatment of obstructive airway disease like asthma, copd, bronchitis etc. But I want to tell you about lots of therapies are available to treat all these conditions and treatment way is solely different for all diseases. If I assume, you are taking for asthma and symptom is not improving, then treatment should be escalated after confirmation of diagnosis! thanks.

Asthmatic cough if due to change in weather and has no other symptoms like throat pain, fever, too much sputum is less likely to be infective. But its better to take precautions.
