Hello lybrate-user, your friend must have had a minor ligament injury. A bandge may not be needed, use ice pack and local pain gel application for pain relief. He has to be investigated for ligament injury if his symptoms persist.

Hi I am 27 year old and I got a new ear piercing on my earlobe. It got septic and I was given drez ointment (iodinated povidone and metronidazole ). I applied for 2 days and the area around the piercing looks reddish-purple like it’s bruised or like it’s stained. There is very slight pain one one ear and no pain in the other side. Could you please advise the cause of the coloration on skin (or if it is normal) and whether to discontinue medication and see a doctor.

Plz attach a pic of the lobe, mild discoloration can also be because if bruising due to trauma which is in the healing phase, if it's not paining too much then my guess is that it will heal. Don't panic.
