Dear lybrate-user,
Any new drug undergoes many stages in research. For every 10000 drugs discovered, harly one drug comes out after the 3 stages of drug development. Mglur5 is still in animal studies stage. It may take another 10 or more long years to come for human trials (not to market) - that too if it works. It may die like all 9999 drugs before that. Both memantine and inositol are available in India. Though not approved for OCD, still you can try, if you can tolerate.

One strategy to treat drug dependence is long-term treatment with the same agonist drug or with a cross-tolerant drug to suppress withdrawal and drug craving. This approach is successfully used in the treatment of tobacco (nicotine) dependence (nicotine itself) and opiate dependence (methadone, buprenorphine).

Manju had probably fibroid of uterus. It was removed 35 years back. It is over. These 3 issues have nothing to do with removal of fibroid uterus.
In addition to antidepressants, if donamem is taken, it will prevent further deterioration of her memory and behaviour. She may be reluctant to take it because of her memory loss itself or due to depression. If you give it, she will take it. It will reduce your burden of taking care of Manju in the long run.

Yes. Nausea and vomiting can be side effects of cholinesterase inhibitors and donepezil (donetaz) is one of the cholinesterase inhibitors. It would be advisable to start at a lower dose which is available as Donepezil 5 mg tablet. There are other alternatives too. Please discuss with your doctor who prescribed it or you contact me for further advise.

Your mother was diagnosed as Alzheimer's. Since her score is 20/30 (probably on MMSE), it must be mild dementia.
It is unfortunate that she is unable to tolerate Donep (Donepezil). i hope it is a 5 mg tablet to start with.
Since she does not have any other health problem, her life expectancy must be - many more years.
Alzheimer's is a progressive disorder. Slowly she will become more and more forgetful and may have behavioural problems too. Donepezil will arrest the disorder from pro...more
