If mri is showing hippocampal sclerosis then it will b very difficult to control your seizures with medicines. You should consult an epilepsy expert who can workup for epilepsy.

Yes, you can continue under the supervision of a psychiatrist to monitor the effects, side effects and also to start psychotherapy (counseling for your son, family, cbt, coping skills, relaxation techniques) if its not yet started, combination of medication and psychotherapy work better.

Dear User, you could do that or there are dicorate er 250 mg tablets also available. Using that would be a better option. You can start off with using 1 and a half tablets initially then if you seem to still have a seizure, then i would suggest you to get the 250mg tabs. And yes, dicorate causes hairfall. The most common side effects with Depakote include nausea, vomiting, extreme drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, abdominal pain, stomach upset, rash, diarrhea, increased appetite, pain, tremor, weight gain, back pain, hair loss, headache, fever, loss of appetite, constipation, double/blurred vision, side-to-side eye .. Hair fall is not due ths and can be due to dandruff, anemia , hypothyroidism etc..
