Yes, you can continue under the supervision of a psychiatrist to monitor the effects, side effects and also to start psychotherapy (counseling for your son, family, cbt, coping skills, relaxation techniques) if its not yet started, combination of medication and psychotherapy work better.

Hi. Bipolar disorder has a relapsing remitting course. Every individual is different so frequency of mood episodes are also different in every individual. Medicines both terminate the mood episode as welll as it prevent the further recurrence. Keep in touch with your doctor he will adjust your medicines as per your status.
