Mr. Lybrate-user, the tablet mentioned has 4 mg of glimiperide and 1000 mg metformin. This is a high dose particularly if some one is starting the treatment. Plus dose is also dependent on blood sugar levels both fasting and pp. Plus hba1c%. So I need to know that before guiding regarding whether to take that tablet or not. Thanks.

Take plain glimepiride 1 mg before breakfast. Take metformin 500 mg twice daile, before breakfast & dinner. Repeat fbs & ppbs after 2 weeks. Take small quantities of food every 3-4 hours during day. Never starve. If you exercise, do so only after taking light food.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the query. The information is not enough to give any specific suggestion. I need to know following details :exact fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, extent of exercises being done daily, lipid profile, bp readings, serum creatinine and urea. Without all the details, it is not possible to give any specific suggestions.
So please do come back with all the necessary information that I have mentioned. It is better if you come bac...more

Since it is high blood sugar, you need to go back to the doctor for a review. Let the doctor assess your case and suggest the necessary changes. You should also take charge of your health by taking positive action. Start exercising everyday ( keep changing the type of exercise regime so that it becomes more interesting ). Include Yoga and pranayam which can help in the natural healing. Read about healthy lifestyle changes and adapt the good habits with sincerity. With the determination and per...more

Dear lybrate-user,
for your height the correct weight would be about 57-60 kg. You stay on your current medications and change the diet as follows, monitor sugars and get back to us. I do find that the pp values are quite high and if they do not get better with the suggested modification you will need to seek a consultation
reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, egg white, fish or chicken)
.monitor blood...more

Could be side effects of the medications. For now you can take a 'l-lysine' containing syrup for boosting appetite, take a 'proton pump inhibitor' (for gas, acidity, bloating) in the morning, and do a liver function test (blood test for lft). Most importantly, talk to the doctor who treats your diabetes about this symptom.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
High blood glucose levels mean current treatment is inadequate. There has to be up gradation in terms of increasing the insulin dosage or adding some of the newer molecule to get better glucose control. Plus we will also have to look at your dietary intake and extent of exercise being done daily. Plus looking at your weight and height it is clear that you have grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 30 44 kgs/M2. This itself is a major contributor for high blood...more

Hi sir, Thanks for your query.
Your question is wrong.
You are suffering from Type 2 Diabetes.
Medicine can be suggested only after we know the blood sugar levels, HbA1c & some other tests.
Thanks.
