No, you should not have done that. Only if you feel symptoms of low sugars (tremors, uneasiness, sweating, hunger) then you should have some sugar.
If you have a glucometer, check sugar levels before having sugar, to avoid unnecessarily high sugars.
For the first instance, it's ok. Nothing to worry about.

I would rather change his medications to a long acting gliclazide metformin combating together with a Dpp4 inhibitor also. The reason is a poor HBAIC of 7.5 with the present drug .diet and regular excercise goes without saying in all diabetics and a dietician advise is recommmended.

Dear lybrate-user,
I find that your mothers blood sugars hba1c and renal functions are all normal on her current medication. You need to tell us whether she actually has hypoglycemic episodes or whether she is only afraid that she will get hypos so that we can decide about any alteration in medication

Diabetic foot when untreated or when the sugar is uncontrolled, leads to sepsis, and eventually amputation (cutting off the infected toe or leg). I suggest you visit a physician who will advise appropriate medication, even if he does give you a scary lecture. Your situation is definitely scary. You will also re...more
