Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Your blood glucose levels & hba1c% seem to be fairly good. At your age ideally hba1c5 should be < 7%. Which can be achieved by a bit of an adjustment of your diet and exercise. Ideally fbg should be closer to 100 mg pp should be 160 t0 170 mg. The same can be achieved by adjusting insulin dose. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I get a feeling that I have answered this query yesterday. Both fasting and PP glucose levels are high. There is a need to upgrade the overall treatment.
Following are my observations : 1) Weight is too high with a BMI of 34.04 kgs she is close to grade 2 obesity. This is a major hindrance for better glucose control.
2) There is a need to look at the dietary pattern, extent of daily physical activity and lipid profile details, serum creatinine and urea...more

HI,
Continue with your medication, diet and exercise. It will take some time to bring down the sugar levels to normalcy. The medicines being administered to you is acting in your body. Keep testing the blood and urine sugar levels weekly and go for follow ups with the doctor regularly.

The treatment of Diabetes is not that simple. There are many classes of Diabetic Drugs. It depends on extent of Diabetes and complications to decide medicine for the Diabetic person.
Dosages are also decided upon depending on your acute and chronic sugar levels, fasting sugar levels, post prandial sugar levels, urine sugar levels, urine MICROALBUMIN levels, urea and creatinine levels.
So, a complete Diabetic profile needs to be done to reach for the best drugs and proper dosages.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. Usually when diabetes goes on for many years, there is a tendancy to have reduced glucose control, resulting in increased HbA1c%. Hence, some additional treatment is required. Depending upon the severity of the situation or glucose levels, drugs can be selected. There is no need to stop the earlier drug, only addition can be done. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
The drugs prescribed for yor father Gliclazide and Voglibose are well known and safe drugs. There are hardly any side effects. Persons with diabetes take these drugs for years together. Both are very well tolerated compounds. Therefore, if his diabetes is well controlled, then he should continue the same. In a well controlled diabetes Fasting Glucose should be < 100 mg, Pp 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Thanks.
