You should have a Chest Xray first.. And should reveal out what is exact problem.. 2 years are a worried point..
It may be symptom of bronchial asthma, or infection, Bronchitis, or sometimes heart problem like LVH like that or may be another unfortunate disease.... it may be hereditary..
So need to diagnose..

Restricted fluid intake to 1.5 litre/day and chest physiotherapy - breathing exercises, every 4 hours, limb exercises, graded increase in their levels, vaccination against pneumocpccal and influenza can be done. Not forgetting round the clock inhalers with spacer technique, additionally when required and oral bronchodilators. Steroids intake can be delayed by using above options.

Dear...... Gargle with warm water, drink warm water, juice,green veg., veg. Soups, lquid diets, dalia, protein diets, tulsi leaf in tea or warm water, geloy juice, take vit.C diet.

Now in ipf/fibrotic, nacfil is not of much use. Prefinax 1800mg in devided doses is prefered drug now. Medicine life long. Not curable. No remission if ipf.

Firstly, You need to know that medrol is a steroid and steroids are medicines with lots of side-effects. I am sure that your doctor would have started your mother on steroids because her asthmatic condition would have endangered her life and he would have been left with no choice but to start steroids.
